DevOps Technical Lead - Azure / Bicep

  • Location Icon Sydney
  • Industry Icon DevOps
  • Work Type Icon Permanent / Full Time
We’re partnering with a well‑known Australian brand that’s experiencing exceptional growth and investing heavily in its technology platform. As part of this journey, they’re hiring a DevOps Technical Lead to help scale and ultimately own the DevOps capability.
This is a genuinely exciting opportunity for someone who wants to step into a leadership role while staying deeply hands‑on.

Why this role stands out
  • You’ll join a business where DevOps is already proven and valued
  • The original DevOps Lead (now Manager) was placed over 3 years ago and has grown the team to 10+ FTEs
  • This role mirrors that journey — you’ll report into them, learn the landscape, and take ownership of the function
  • Significant growth and hiring planned over the next 6 months
  • Clear career progression without becoming detached from the tech
What you’ll be doing
  • Acting as a technical leader within the DevOps team and across the wider business
  • Designing, building and maintaining Azure infrastructure at scale
  • Writing and maintaining infrastructure as code using Bicep
  • Building and troubleshooting CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions
  • Coding in PowerShell and YAML
  • Owning cloud networking concepts including routing, connectivity and Azure infrastructure design
  • Troubleshooting real‑world issues end‑to‑end (you’re the person people trust when things break)
  • Representing DevOps internally and providing clear, practical recommendations to stakeholders
  • Helping shape standards, best practices and the future DevOps roadmap
What we’re looking for
  • Strong, hands‑on Azure DevOps experience
  • Proven experience with IaC (Bicep strongly preferred)
  • Solid CI/CD expertise (Azure DevOps and/or GitHub Actions)
  • Strong understanding of Azure networking and infrastructure architecture
  • A natural problem solver — troubleshooting is something you genuinely enjoy
  • Comfortable stepping into a leadership role and influencing across teams
  • Someone who wants to build, scale and eventually own a DevOps function
Working model & requirements
  • Permanent role
  • Minimum 1 day per week in the Sydney office
  • Candidates based on the Eastern Seaboard may be considered remotely only if truly best‑in‑class
  • No sponsorship available
  • Australia‑based candidates only
