I’ve been exclusively retained to recruit for a mission-led, global product company that is doing incredible work at the intersection of technology and impact. My client operates across several continents, with over 200 employees, half of whom are in the technology team. They’ve invested millions into their AI capabilities and are entering an exciting phase of platform modernisation and strategic growth.

About the Role
This role is a rare opportunity to step into a high-impact position with both technical depth and leadership scope. You’ll be hands-on with cloud infrastructure while guiding a globally distributed team of six engineers (mostly based in Australia). About 30% of your time will be spent on people leadership, with the rest focused on technical contribution.
You’ll inherit a team that’s seen six managers in five years—so your ability to lead with empathy, consistency, and clarity will be key. You’ll be scripting, pair programming, and helping shape the future of the platform alongside engineering and AI teams.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a global team of six remote engineers (30% leadership, 70% individual contribution)
- Provide daily technical direction and foster team cohesion
- Maintain and evolve a fully containerised cloud infrastructure
- Write automation scripts and support platform operations
- Collaborate on strategic initiatives including Kubernetes adoption
- Support database migration (MariaDB to PostgreSQL)
- Deep experience with Linux, AWS (EC2, ECS), and modern databases
- Infrastructure as Code (CloudFormation)
- Python scripting
- Monitoring tools: Datadog
- Strong communication and leadership skills
